The
inaugural Johor Baru Jazz Festival kicks off from February 26 to 28 in a
programme of exciting performances held at the Grand Ballroom of DoubleTree by
Hilton Johor Baru. Organised by the
Johor Society for the Performing Arts (JSPA), the JB Jazz Fest is the first of
five festivals under the 12th JB Arts Festival 2015. Jazz enthusiasts can look forward to three
shows that feature international and regional artistes in performances
scheduled on Feb 26 (8.30pm), Feb 27 and 28 (7.30pm).
The
show on Feb 26 will feature the
David Gomes Jazz Ensemble with Junji Delfino, backed by some of the region’s
most established musicians like Shawn Kelly, Hanafie Imam, Patrick Terbrack,
Julian Chan and Eddie Wen.
International
jazz legend and world-class saxophonist, Sadao Watanabe, and Italian acapella
group, Mezzotono, will take the stage on Feb
27 while Xiong Quartet, Jeremy Monteiro and Alberto Marsico with the
Jazz-Blues Brothers (Singapore) and Steve Thornton and Afro Asia featuring
Razak Rahman, will perform on Feb 28.

Ticket
holders are welcome to join workshops Free-of-Charge with David Gomes, Junji
Delfino and Xiong Lee of Xiong Quartet to learn the finer points of what it
means to be a jazz musician.
Non-ticket
holders are also welcome to join the workshops at a nominal fee of RM10
only. The workshops start at 4.30pm on Saturday, Feb 28, at the
White Box and Black Box, JB Performing Arts Centre at level 4 of Danga City
Mall, Johor Baru.

A season
pass that entitles ticket holders to daily shows (Feb 26 to 28) is at RM388 only.
VVIP ticket
holders are invited to post-concert receptions with the performing artistes.
